On September 15, 1997, the domain name Google.com was registered. This was one of the first steps of the founding of Google as a technology company, officially founded in 1998 by two Stanford University students, Larry Page and Sergey Brin.

Nerdy Fact: The original domain name for Google was actually “BackRub.com”, which was based on the algorithm that ranked web pages by their backlinks. However, the founders decided to change it to something more catchy and less creepy in 1997. The domain name “Google.com” is estimated to be worth billions of dollars, but it is not for sale. According to some experts, it could be worth as much as $25 billion, based on factors such as traffic, revenue, and brand value.

Animal Crossing

On September 15, 2002, Animal Crossing released for GameCube. This life simulation game allows players to live in a village of talking animals, customize their houses, collect various items, and enjoy different events based on the real-time clock and calendar.

Nerdy Fact: The game was inspired by the creator’s experience of moving to a new city and feeling lonely. He wanted to recreate the feeling of making new friends and starting a new life in a different place.

Undertale

On September 15, 2018, Undertale was released. This 2D role-playing game lets the player choose between fighting or befriending the monsters they encounter in a mysterious underground world, with the game’s story and characters changing based on the player’s actions.

Nerdy Fact: Undertale has many secrets and hidden content that can be discovered by the player. For example, there is a secret boss called Gaster, who is the former royal scientist and the creator of the core. He is very mysterious and can only be encountered by manipulating the game’s files.
