IT’S BOBSLED TIME
In 1993, Cool Runnings premiered. This American sports comedy film is about the first Jamaican bobsled team that competed in the 1988 Winter Olympics, coached by a disgraced former champion.
Nerdy Fact: John Candy, who played the coach Irv Blitzer, was very passionate about the film and took a pay cut to be in it. He also picked a song for each of his co-stars that he felt represented their characters. He told them that he knew the film was going to be big and that Disney didn’t know what they had.

THE SOCIAL NETWORK
In 2010, The Social Network premiered. This movie dramatizes the creation of Facebook and the legal battles that followed.
Nerdy Fact: Shia LaBeouf turned down the role of Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, which went to Jesse Eisenberg instead. Jonah Hill also auditioned for the role of Sean Parker, the co-founder of Napster, but was rejected by director David Fincher, who chose Justin Timberlake.

BLUEY
In 2018, Bluey premiered. This popular Australian animated series features a family of anthropomorphic dogs who love to play imaginative games and have fun adventures. The main character is Bluey, a six-year-old Blue Heeler puppy who lives with her dad Bandit, mum Chilli, and little sister Bingo. The show is praised for its realistic and humorous portrayal of family life, its positive messages, and its Australian culture.
Nerdy Fact: Several Austrailian comedians and actors have guest-starred on the show, but several big names from America have also lended their voices to the show, including Natalie Portman, Eva Mendes, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
