WARIO LAND | 1994

In 1994, Wario took the lead in Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land for the Game Boy. Wario Land is a platform game for the Game Boy that features Wario as the main character who travels to a pirate island to steal a golden statue of Princess Peach.

 

Nerdy Facts:

  • The game was the first in the Wario series, which consists of five Wario Land sequels and several related titles.

  • The game borrows some sound effects from Metroid II: Return of Samus, another Game Boy game developed by the same team.

  • The game has multiple endings depending on how much treasure Wario collects throughout the game. The best ending involves Wario getting his own planet or moon.

RESIDENT EVIL 5 | 2009

In 2009, Resident Evil 5 premiered on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Resident Evil 5 is a third-person shooter video game developed and published by Capcom, featuring a cooperative mode and a storyline that involves Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar fighting against a bioterrorist threat in Africa.

 

Nerdy Facts:

  • Resident Evil 5 is the first game in the series to feature a cooperative mode, allowing two players to team up and fight against the infected.

  • Resident Evil 5 has a lot of hidden Easter eggs throughout the game, such as a secret message from Wesker in the final boss fight, a cameo appearance by Jill Valentine in the Lost in Nightmares DLC, and a tribute to the movie Jaws in the marshlands chapter.

  • Resident Evil 5 features a special weapon called the Hydra, which is a triple-barreled shotgun that can decimate enemies at close range. The name and design of the weapon are references to the mythical creature of the same name, which had multiple heads that grew back when cut off.
