DRAGON BALL | 1986

In 1986, Dragon Ball premiered on Fuji TV. Dragon Ball is a Japanese anime series that follows the adventures of Goku, a young boy with a monkey tail and superhuman strength, who searches for the seven magical Dragon Balls that can grant any wish.

Nerdy Facts:

  • Dragon Ball was originally a parody of the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West, and many characters were based on its characters. For example, Goku is inspired by Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, and Bulma is based on Tang Sanzang, the Buddhist monk.

  • The name of the series comes from the seven magical orbs that can summon a dragon and grant any wish. However, in the original manga, the Dragon Balls were only supposed to be a minor plot device, and the story was more focused on martial arts and comedy.

  • The reason why Super Saiyans have blonde hair is because Toriyama wanted to save time and ink when drawing the manga. He did not have to color the hair black anymore, and he could also make the contrast between the normal and transformed states more obvious.

STARDEW VALLEY | 2016

In 2016, Stardew Valley launched on PC. Stardew Valley is a farm life simulation game where you can create your own farm, live off the land, and interact with the local community.

Nerdy Facts:

  • The game was created by a single developer, Eric Barone, who spent over four years working on it by himself.

  • You can access the sewers by donating 60 items to the museum and getting the key from Gunther.

  • You can mod the game to add new content, features, and characters, thanks to the active and creative fan community.
