WWE NETWORK | 2014

In 2014, the WWE Network launched. The launch of WWE Network was a groundbreaking announcement that introduced the first-ever 24/7 streaming network for professional wrestling fans, featuring original programming, live content, and a massive on-demand library of every past episode of Raw, SmackDown, WCW Nitro, ECW, and more, as well as every past and future PPV.

 

Nerdy Facts:

  • The WWE Network exists worldwide, however in the U.S., the network was folded into the Peacock streaming service.

  • WWE Network has more than 10,000 hours of video on demand, featuring footage from more than 10 promotions, such as WWE, WCW, ECW, AWA, NWA, and more.

  • WWE Network has aired live, in-ring programming from six countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and Australia.

GET OUT | 2017

In 2017, Get Out premiered in theaters. Get Out is a psychological horror film about a black man who discovers a terrifying secret when he visits the family of his white girlfriend.

 

Nerdy Facts:

  • The movie was inspired by an Eddie Murphy routine where he jokes about why white people don’t leave a house when a ghost tells them to.

  • Chance the Rapper bought out all the tickets for the opening day showings of the movie in a Chicago theater and gave them away for free to his fans.

  • The movie was Jordan Peele’s directorial debut, and he became the first African American to win the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay with it.

JESUS REVOLUTION | 2023

In 2023, Jesus Revolution premiered in theaters. Jesus Revolution is an American Christian drama film based on the true story of a national spiritual awakening in the early 1970s and its origins within a community of teenage hippies in Southern California.

 

Nerdy Facts:

  • The movie is based on the memoir of Greg Laurie, who is portrayed by Joel Courtney in the film. Laurie is the founder of Harvest Christian Fellowship, one of the largest churches in America.

  • The film’s title comes from a Time magazine cover story in June of 1971, which featured the Jesus movement and its impact on American culture.

  • Kelsey Grammer plays Pastor Chuck Smith, who was in his 40s at the time of the events, but Grammer was 67 during the film’s production. Jonathan Roumie plays Lonnie Frisbee, who was 19 at the beginning of the film, but Roumie was 47.
