SHADOWS OF THE EMPRIE

In 1996, Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire released in the US on the Nintendo 64. The game follows the adventures of Dash Rendar, a mercenary who helps the Rebel Alliance fight against the Empire and the criminal Prince Xizor.

Nerdy Fact: The project was conceived as a way to create a story set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and to explore all the commercial possibilities of a full motion picture release without actually making a film.

MELEE

In 2001, Super Smash Bros. Melee released in the US for the GameCube. This game lets you fight with characters from various Nintendo franchises on different stages inspired by their worlds. It is the second game in the Super Smash Bros. series and the best-selling GameCube game of all time.

Nerdy Fact: There was a website that revealed new information about the game every day until its release, called the “Smash Dojo”. One of the most shocking announcements was that Sonic the Hedgehog, the rival mascot of Nintendo, would be a playable character.
