THE SWORD IN THE STONE

In 1963, The Sword in the Stone released in theaters. The Sword in the Stone is an animated musical fantasy comedy film by Walt Disney, based on the novel by T. H. White, about the young Arthur’s education by the wizard Merlin.

Nerdy Fact: The movie was the last animated film that Walt Disney produced, since he died during the production of The Jungle Book (1967).

​MASK OF THE PHANTASM

In 1993, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm released in theaters. Mask of the Phantasm is an animated film that features Batman as he confronts a mysterious vigilante who is killing Gotham’s mobsters, while also reuniting with his former lover, Andrea Beaumont.

Nerdy Fact: The movie was a box office flop, earning only $5.6 million against a budget of $6 million. However, it received critical acclaim and has since become a cult classic among Batman fans.

SOUL

In 2020, Soul released in theaters and on Disney+. Soul is a Pixar animated film that follows Joe Gardner, a jazz musician who gets separated from his body and tries to return to Earth with the help of a soul named 22.

Nerdy Fact: Soul features a cameo appearance by John Ratzenberger, who has voiced a character in every Pixar film to date. He plays a construction worker who says “Hey, move it, buddy!” to Joe in the beginning of the film.
