In 1989, The Simpsons premiered on FOX. The Simpsons is a long-running animated sitcom that satirizes American life through the adventures of a dysfunctional family.

Nerdy Fact: The Simpsons has predicted many real-life events, such as the Trump presidency, the Ebola outbreak, the discovery of the Higgs boson, and the FIFA corruption scandal. Some fans believe that the show has a secret team of fortune tellers or time travelers.

THE RETURN OF THE KING

In 2003, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King premiered in theaters. The Return of the King is the third and final installment of the epic fantasy trilogy by Peter Jackson, based on the novels by J. R. R. Tolkien, in which the heroes of Middle-earth must unite against the evil forces of Sauron and his army of orcs, who seek to conquer the world with the power of the One Ring.

Nerdy Fact: The movie has a cameo appearance by Peter Jackson himself. He can be seen on the Corsair ship that Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli board during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. Jackson is holding a spear and wearing a pirate hat.

THREE SPIDEYS?!

In 2021, Spider-Man: No Way Home premiered in theaters. No Way Home follows Peter Parker as he tries to undo the consequences of his identity being exposed to the world, but ends up breaking the multiverse and facing enemies from different realities. Grossing almost $2 billion worldwide, it’s one of the most successful films of all time.

Nerdy Fact: Jamie Foxx hosted spontaneous dance parties on set for the crew and the cast. He also brought his own DJ equipment and speakers
