Our journey begins with the first Thor film released in 2011, directed by Kenneth Branagh. In this movie, we witness the mighty Thor, portrayed by Chris Hemsworth, being banished from Asgard to Earth and learning the virtues of humility. It introduces us to his supporting cast, including his mischievous brother, Loki.

2. The Avengers (2012)

PG-13 | 143 MIN | RT: 91% / 91% | IMDB: 8.0

3. Thor: The Dark World (2013)

Thor, taking a break from his space journeys, becomes roommates with an ordinary office worker named Darryl Jacobson in Australia, and the two navigate their daily lives. This is a short comedy one-shot that likely isn’t canon to the overall story, but does set up the tone-shift in the Thor movies leading into “Ragnarok.”

6. Team Thor: Part II  (2017) – Optional

NOT RATED | 4 MIN | RT: – – / 82% | IMDB: 7.8

Thor and his roommate Darryl navigate their domestic responsibilities, with Darryl shouldering most of the cleaning duties. This is a short comedy one-shot that likely isn’t canon to the overall story, but does continue the set up of the tone-shift in the Thor movies leading into “Ragnarok.”

7. Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

PG-13 | 130 MIN | RT: 93% / 87% | IMDB: 7.9

“Thor: Ragnarok” (2017), directed by Taika Waititi, brings a fresh and humorous take on the character. Thor finds himself imprisoned on the planet Sakaar and must assemble a team to prevent the impending Ragnarok, the destruction of Asgard. This film is a fan favorite for its humor, action, and character development.

8. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

PG-13 | 149 MIN | RT: 85% / 92% | IMDB: 8.4

As the culmination of years of storytelling, “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018) sees Thor on a quest to forge a new weapon, Stormbreaker, and join the Avengers in their battle against Thanos, the ultimate cosmic threat.

9. Avengers: Endgame (2019)

PG-13 | 181 MIN | RT: 94% / 90% | IMDB: 8.4

The epic conclusion of the Infinity Saga, “Avengers: Endgame” (2019), follows Thor as he grapples with the aftermath of the Snap and embarks on a journey of self-discovery. It’s a poignant chapter in Thor’s character arc.

10. Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

PG-13 | 118 MIN | RT: 63% / 77% | IMDB: 6.2

Thor embarks on a quest for inner peace, but his retirement is interrupted by Gorr the God Butcher, who seeks the extinction of all gods, leading Thor to team up with Valkyrie, Korg, and his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who now wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

Watching every MCU project featuring Thor in chronological order is a thrilling and rewarding experience. It allows you to follow the growth and evolution of this beloved character and immerse yourself in the vast and interconnected Marvel Cinematic Universe.
