COVID-19 and Love Thy Nerd Convention Plans

Hey there nerds,

As you may have heard, many upcoming conventions are closing their doors due to COVID-19 concerns. We are super bummed about this—a big part of what we do at Love Thy Nerd is meeting nerds at conventions and looking for ways to love and serve them. We, however, very much believe that we all need to do our part in slowing the spread of COVID-19, so we are hard at work, looking for ways to love and serve nerds online while we are all practicing some healthy social distancing.

We at Love Thy Nerd are keeping a close eye on the status of the conventions that we plan on attending and sending teams to: Origins Game Fair, Gen Con, Portland Retro Gaming Expo, Dragon Con, and PAX Unplugged.

As of this statement release on 3/17/20, these shows all plan on proceeding as normal. The safety of those who go on trips with us, however, is our highest priority and we will make a decision on each of these trips with that in mind. Below this statement, we will keep a running list of shows as various shows make announcement so that you are all up to date about any changes and what this will mean for our convention teams.

Love,

Love Thy Nerd

Updates:

Portland Retro Gaming Expo:

Hey nerds,

Unfortunately, Portland Retro Gaming Expo has been cancelled for 2020. This means we will not be sending a team there this year. While we were looking forward to going to this show for the first time we support their decision to cancel in order to ensure everyone’s safety as well as providing the best show that they can next year.

We can’t wait to send a team and attend this expo in 2021!
